Documentation:
- Take photographs and detailed notes of the damage for records and insurance purposes.
- Document moisture levels and affected areas using moisture meters and other tools.
Water Extraction
- Water Removal:
- Use specialized equipment such as pumps, wet vacuums, and extractors to remove standing water.
- Ensure complete removal of water to prevent secondary damage and mold growth.
Drying and Dehumidification
Drying Process:
- Set up air movers, dehumidifiers, and other drying equipment to remove moisture from affected areas.
- Monitor and adjust equipment as needed to ensure efficient drying.
Moisture Monitoring:
- Regularly check moisture levels using hygrometers and moisture meters.
- Maintain logs of moisture readings and progress.
Cleaning and Sanitizing
Surface Cleaning:
- Clean and disinfect affected surfaces to prevent mold and bacterial growth.
- Use appropriate cleaning agents and techniques for different materials and surfaces.
Disposal:

Reporting:
- Prepare detailed reports on the mitigation process, including actions taken, equipment used, and outcomes.
- Provide necessary documentation for insurance claims.
Continuous Improvement
Training and Development:
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current with new techniques, equipment, and best practices in water mitigation.
- Obtain and maintain relevant certifications (e.g., IICRC Water Damage Restoration Technician certification).
Quality Control:
- Perform quality checks to ensure all work meets industry standards and client expectations.
- Implement feedback from clients and supervisors to improve future performance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with water extraction, drying, and moisture monitoring equipment.
- Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting techniques for water-damaged materials.
