    • Measure floor dimensions accurately to estimate material requirements, including the quantity, type, and specific installation method.
    • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, or sanding as needed to ensure the flooring material adheres properly.
    • Remove old flooring if necessary, taking precautions to minimize dust and debris, especially when removing hazardous materials like asbestos tiles or lead-based paint.
  2. Installation of Flooring Materials

    • Wood Flooring: Install hardwood, engineered wood, or laminate floors, taking into account expansion gaps, underlayment, and proper alignment.
    • Tile Flooring: Lay ceramic, porcelain, or stone tiles, including grout application, ensuring a level and even finish.
    • Vinyl and Linoleum: Cut and lay sheets or tiles of vinyl or linoleum, making precise cuts around door frames, fixtures, and walls for a seamless look.

  3. Quality Control and Adjustments

    • Check the alignment, spacing, and level of installed flooring regularly to ensure a flawless finish.
    • Make adjustments as needed, such as trimming or reshaping materials to accommodate unusual spaces or angles.
    • Inspect for any visible defects or inconsistencies post-installation and make repairs if required.
  4. Finishing and Cleanup

    • Apply finishing touches, such as baseboards or moldings, around the edges of the flooring to enhance the appearance and secure the material.
    • Clean the workspace, removing all dust, debris, and leftover materials, ensuring the area is ready for client use.
  5. Maintenance and Repair

    • Occasionally provide maintenance services, including sanding, refinishing, or resealing wood floors, as well as replacing damaged sections in tiles or vinyl.
    • Respond to repair requests, diagnosing issues like squeaks, warps, or lifting tiles, and apply necessary fixes.
  6. Client Communication

    • Consult with clients to understand their flooring preferences, provide material recommendations, and discuss the installation process.
    • Address any client concerns during or after installation, offering guidance on care and maintenance for the type of flooring installed.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using tools such as sanders, saws, adhesives, and measurement devices.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, kneel, and lift heavy materials for extended periods.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in measurements, cuts, and finishes to ensure high-quality installations.
  • Problem Solving: Capacity to troubleshoot and resolve installation issues on-site.
